This is Where We Started
On May 11th Kuba Bednarz released the track Where We Started on our label. Kuba is a 19-year-old DJ and minimal techno producer from Belfast, Ireland. He had a passion for music since as far back as he can remember, and he was always either listening to his favorite artists or playing the drums from a very young age. The main genres he grew up with were the likes of hard rock and metal, up until the age of around 12. Then he discovered electronic music.
Where We Started is a minimal techno/tech house track. The track was inspired by a ‘house’ style bassline which was put together with a techno style vocal, as well as tech house drum patterns and rhythm.
‘Where We Started’ actually began by complete accident. He created a random single synth line in his bedroom and it immediately inspired him to start working with it. He went to the studio later that day, and had the foundation and structure laid down within a couple of hours. Luckily, he has access to a great studio in the Sonic Arts Research Centre, owned by Queen University, where he is currently studying Music and Audio production. He was able to spend the next 3-4 days working on the song and by the end of the week, the song was finished. He was really happy with the end result because he felt like it reflected his artistic profile in are very good way. He personally feels it is his best body of work so far, so definitely one to look out for!

Time for Poetic Malfunktion
Bipashna & Dozzer are a DJ/producer duo from the Netherlands mainly focusing on producing and mixing hard techno. On May 18th they have released their first track on our techno record label: Poetic Malfunktion.
‘Poetic Malfunktion’ is an atmospheric techno track with a focus on sub bass and lower frequencies. Bipashna & Dozzer are a Hindu and Buddhist duo, and they tried to implement atmospheres from their cultural background in this track. They wanted to create something that has meaning by using chants and mantras, but which is driving at the same time. By time, the track changed its initial sound but not all of the elements.
There was no particular source of inspiration for Poetic Malfunktion, it was just a feeling that found its expression in this track. The production process was a bit lengthy, since the elements needed a lot of balancing, especially with the kick and vocals. Experimentation and exploration were key in producing this track, but Bipashna & Dozzer were really satisfied once the hard work was done. A really awesome driving dark techno track was born.

Javi Viana as ‘Batman’
Javi Viana’s latest EP ‘Batman‘ released on Black Mirror Recordings is much like that favorite club night that you are looking forward to. Relaxed moments combined with moments of pure energy release. This EP contains four minimal tracks: Batman, Carodice, Taste and Les Gallines. The first two tracks Batman and Carodice are the hardest track of this EP. These tracks have hard kicks and basslines, alternated with sweeping drum-breaks and hi-hats. The last two tracks Taste and Les Gallines are, in contrast to Batman and Carodic, a bit calmer. Perfect for DJs to play in a warm-up set.
