This techno producer has been around for a while. After producing music for Americas Next Top Model and a German movie called Halbe Brüder, he now wants to focus on making techno. Have fun reading this one!
My name is I Am Fowler. I’m a music producer, techno DJ & songwriter from Frankfurt (Germany). The project I Am Fowler actually started in 2018 with my first attempt in techno & electronica and is mainly focused on a wide range mixture of tech-house, techno & melodic electronica.
Can you tell us more about your music career so far?
I’ve been playing the piano since I was six years old. I have been writing music for tv agencies, and some of my tracks where featured in Americas Next Top Model and a German movie called Halbe Brüder.
After these achievements, I made my first attempts in trap and dubstep, but that never actually satisfied me as an artist. Instead, what always fascinated me was progressive and dark groovy dance music. In my opinion, you’ve got way more possibilities to let yourself steam artistically in that kind of style. So I came up with the idea of starting a single artist project called I Am Fowler, back in 2018. I was? eady to play gigs everywhere, and release new music. I knew it would take some years to get into techno music production, but now I am finally here and I will stay 😉
What do you want to achieve in your music career?
Just to live from what I love to do every single minute in my life: Music! Also, I would love to play on a defected house gig or as a supporting act for Rebekah or? Oliver Koletzki. Maybe, sometime.
Underground scene in Frankfurt
As Frankfurt was the capital of thet electronic music scene, there were well-known clubs like the U60 or Dorian Gray that everyone raved about. Nowadays, there still are great clubs for electronic music friends, but the clubs from the old-school techno scene have disappeared, simply because of money. It has simply become much too expensive. Sure, rents have gone up. With the club “Tanzhaus West” or Robert Johnson (rather located in Offenbach) Frankfurt still has very good locations today.
What is the reason you decided to start producing techno music?
At the time, when I produced for tv shows, I always felt I was missing something in my musical expression as an artist. I felt limited in what I had been doing, so I changed my focus to electronic music. At first every kind of electronic music, now focused on techno, tech-house, electronica.
Is there a meaning behind your artist name?
The artist name Fowler is actually a result of my former producer name ‘Owls’ an animal who is catching prey which means to try and get people to be open minded to my sound, and to get new people everywhere to listen to my music.
