Introducing Techno Producer Nerepla
Hello, I’m Alperen. I am 21 years old and I live in Istanbul, Turkey. I get ideas by listening to new and different music in my daily life or when go for a walk outside.
Are you musically educated? And do you think it’s necessary to be educated in order to have success in writing electronic music?
I received a 6-month training and I constantly worked towards improving myself, and I still continue to improve. I believe that you should be a very good listener before studying in music. Because if your music ear is developed, you will both make better music and learn in a shorter time with the training you receive.
Latest release ‘Expert’
In fact, the biggest factor in its emergence was the COVID-19 quarantine. While we were stuck at home because of this virus that plagued the world, I made this song by reflecting my frustration and anger into the melody. And while doing research on the internet, I saw the speech in the Movie “Big Prophet” and thought of adding it.
Where did your artist name ‘Nerepla’ come from? Is there a hidden meaning behind the name?
When I say it, you will laugh and be surprised, but the name Nerepla is the reverse of my real name (Alperen). I get this reaction from everyone, but I think it’s creative.
The industry and how fans discover new music has changed dramatically in the last 10 years or so. How do you discover new music nowadays?
Almost every day I try to listen to every new song released on Beatport. This is how I discovered it, and I think I got inspired by listening to these tracks.
What part of music production do you enjoy most?
I like every part of the music production, but the part I love the most is always the part where I write melody! I enjoy transmitting the emotions I had at that moment into a melody.
Software And Hardware
I use Fruity Loops Studio because I studied it, it is easier and more familiar to me. My favorite add-ons are the Roland TB303 and MiniV3 these days.
Can you name three tracks that have influenced your musical development?
The 3 most important songs for me are definitely Armin Van Buuren – Orbion, Armin Van Buuren – In and Out of Love and Cosmic Gate – Exploration of Space. I started out by listening to trance, but later I felt techno was closer to my heart, so I started making techno.
What is the most useless talent you have?
I can play every melody I can think of, I think this is both a funny and a ridiculous talent.
I am waiting for an EP release right now and in the future there are many good and solid works coming, keep following me. Also, thank you very much for this interview, I enjoyed participating and this was the first interview I did.
