Introducing Debitae
Can you introduce yourself? who are you and where are you from? What are you doing in your day-to-day life?
My name is Debitae and I grew up in Frankfurt and now live in Munich, Germany. Music production really is my passion, and Munich is a great place to refresh creativity and free your mind for new ideas in the nearby mountains.
Do you find it hard to stay positive and motivated during these strange times?
Not at all, I never had more time for my family and my music.
Tell us the story about your music endeavors. How did you discover techno music and what led you down the path of becoming a producer and/or DJ?
I discovered Techno during endless nights on the dance floors of Frankfurt’s clubs during the 90s, but actually I have a much broader spectrum of music I am interested in, from Old School Hip Hop, Indie to Jazz, it is basically the vibe I am interested in, not genres.
Latest release ‘Sweet dreams’
We would love to know about the production process of your EP “Sweet Dreams”, can you tell us how the tracks came about? What was your source of inspiration for the tracks? How much did it cost from start to finish? What issues did you run into
The two tracks on Sweet Dreams EP resulted from playing around with a vintage Tascam tape recorder, bringing a bit of that LoFi vibe. I was interested to see how this plays together with a 303 bassline – et voila!
Producing music
When did you start producing? How did you discover music production? And what made you decide to start producing?
It’s a pretty simple story, I discovered Garage Band on my Mac and quickly turned to Logic. It was an amazing experience to see that I could actually produce the music in the way I’d like to listen to it.
Which software/hardware do you use for music production? What are your favorite plugins or synths?
I am working mostly in the box with few exceptions. I like recording drum sounds, but often find myself using samples as it is just faster. U–he Diva is a great software synth I use a lot.
Is there any software or hardware you would really like to possess and why?
No specific model, but a decent selection Mono and Poly Synths and drum machines would be nice 🙂
What more can we expect from you this year? Any releases or special events you can tell us about?
There is definitely more to come this year, two tracks already signed and soon to be released, but more is in the pipeline!
